2016 Subaru STi – ProTune

Took on this vehicle one evening as this client had bought a few performance parts from us and it was time now to have the STi calibrated.
Oh yeah the client did a phenomenal job in the install of all the items.

Mods on this vehicle were:
IAG air oil separator, Invidia up pipe, down pipe, CBE, 3port EBCS,
killer B pickup / windage tray, Perrin blow off valve, Cobb Tuning SF Intake, Grimmspeed TMIC, turbo inlet pipe and the pitch stop mount.

Have to say this was a very healthy motor and it showed as it was one of the highest EJ257 that I was have had the pleasure of calibrating with the practically stage2 mods on the vehicle.

1992 Honda Civic EG Turbo – Calibration

This project really was frustrating since when it seems that we made some gains, the parts that were initially installed were not up to par when it came down to see numbers on the rollers. This is why I always preach, “buy quality the first time and then you don’t have to spend twice.”

With that said, knock off fuel items were bought and installed the first go around as we tried to calibrate this vehicle on a fresh built engine, used Precision turbo 62mm turbo, CSF radiator, Speedfactory FMIC & hood exit exhaust, Tial 60mm WG, Hondata CPR & S300, Fuse E85R.

Well that first session was a complete disaster as the POS Bosch 2200cc and China made dual pumps, 5 gal. fuel tank and lines deteriorated from the ethanol fuel and contaminated the whole fuel system. Besides that the pumps just failed during a pull. At the time we decided to abandon the calibration and resume at a later time when we can buy some better components. We ripped the fuel pump and replaced it with a Aeromotive A1000 inline and got rid of those injectors and replaced with some Fuel Injector Development 2000cc units. Cleaned the whole fuel system and then got her back on the rollers.

This time on the rollers it did not disappoint as we managed to make some sauce on the Dyno Dynamics. Here are the results.

2016 Subaru WRX – Install & Protune

Just wrapped a busy work week and in this post we have a client with a 2016 Subaru WRX that we dyno tested when it was completely stock. Now he came back after he installed some items and we installed a Grimmspeed top mount intercooler, some NGK spark plugs and amsoil oil and filter.

After the install was complete that evening we placed the car on the dyno and commenced to the ProTune on this vehicle. Needless to say we found some very nice gains as we left the psi at 19.7 and made power all throughout the power band.
Mods on the vehicle: GS TMIC and EBCS, Cobb Tuning APv3, Invidia DP & R400 CBE, PLM Chargepipe, AEM intake.

Special thanks to Travis for trusting us with his ride.

2017 Subaru STi – RevWorks

Got a client that needed some help on this locked motor.
In came RevWorks Inc. short block

Arrival day.
After we finally received the RevWorks RW750 for this build we proceeded to tearing
the motor out of the vehicle and cracking it open to see the carnage.
The exhaust side on the driver’s side head was the leading culprit here.
Valves bent as well.
Exhaust camshafts not looking to well either.
OEM and aftermarket items needed for the build started arriving.
Assembling begins with the passenger side head as the other head will need to be worked on since new parts were order from Subaru to replace the damaged head.
New driver side head being assembled with new valves and buckets.
Old on the left , new one is on the right side.
Killer B oil pick and windage tray were installed and oil pan back in its spot.
Amsoil oil filter ready for the break in procedure.
Amsoil front and center on this build.
Outfront Motorsports were involved in helping rebuild the AVCS for this and all the EJ builds we do at the shop.
Amsoil Break-In oil is now in the engine and car has been delivered to the client.
500 miles and we will see this vehicle again to place the Amsoil Signature series oil
and proceed with obtaining the power out of this engine. Stay Tuned!

2017 Subaru STi – Install & Calibration

This is a return client whom bought some nice Gram Lights wheels from us.  Well he was at it again and this time it was some preventive items that he wanted to add to the mix. After those items were installed he wanted us to do a calibration on his vehicle.
Contacted our reps and soon the IAG Performance, Cobb Tuning and Killer B Motorsports items arrived.
OEM oil items vs the Killer B Motorsports goodies.

The IAG Air Oil Separator was not given a close up picture, but it was installed. You can see it on the left side of the top mount intercooler.

Above is the dyno jet comparison chart showing the whp vs PSI.  Next up we will be upgrading the TMIC, EBCS and regular maintenance.

2019 Subaru STi – Stage 3 install & Calibration

2019 come in to get a plethora of items installed.  This client just recently moved to the state of LA and was looking for a reputable shop to take care of his vehicle.

When the vehicle first came into the shop it was a hot summer day and we placed it on the dyno to get some baseline numbers first.

Now after the baseline was done then we proceeded to start installing the items.

In addition we recommended the client to install a  #killerboilpickup and windage tray as well as a #iagaos

2016 Subaru STi – RevWorks RW750 build

Local Subbie owner came to our shop after he had some engine issues with his vehicle. Car was previously worked by another shop and also tuned to what we see were stage2 mods.  Well we confirmed that it was down on 2 cylinders so in comes a call to our go to short block guys….Rev Works Inc.

After looking at the budget and the power goals of this vehicle the owner decided on a RW750_Stage3 short block.
We had to wait to finalize other projects and builds so with the patience of the owner we are finally in the middle of this project.  Here we leave you with some of the pictures of where we are at with this build.

More parts are arriving, as today the upgraded TMIC from Grimmspeed just showed up.

After the build of the engine and installation the car was treated to some #amsoil break in oil for the initial start. That oil was evacuated and then a second oil change with amsoil break in oil was inserted. 500 miles were put on that oil and then the car returned to have that break in oil evacuated. The Amsoil Signature series oil was installed and the tuning on pump 93oct began.
Shell 93 octane calibration at 20psi.
We are awaiting some speed density kit and an upgraded injectors to take
advantage of some ethanol E85R

2018 Subaru WRX – Calibration

2018 Subaru WRX came in to get a Cobb AccessportV3 and then mapping.  On a warm evening night here in NOLA, 90F, 56% mumidity and 30.03 baro we slapped a stage1 OTS to start proceedings this night.  This vehicle did not have any mods, it was totally stock with only 17k miles in the odometer.

Here are the before and after both in Dyno Dynamics numbers and then in dyno jet comparison mode.  Runs were made at 19psi tapering to 12psi levels in 4th gear.

2012 Infiniti G37 6MT – UpRev Calibration

On this nice spring day in Southern Louisiana we had the chance to calibrate this manual transmission Infiniti G37.
This vehicle came in thanks to the referral from Christopher, it is always nice to have a client that is knee deep in the local street race scene and sends clients our way from time to time.
So with that said in comes this 2012 Infiniti G37 with 159k miles on the odometer.

Mods on this vehicle were only Stillen Gen3 intakes and a test pipe.  Everything else was stock on this vehicle.

Ambient conditions on the day of the calibration, 76F, 59% humidity and 30.31 baro.  All runs were done in 4th gear.

Blue line is the baseline run – 273whp
Green line run – is where we hit a wall and could not gain any more WHP.  At this moment is when we started checking things as spark plugs, oil level (once again) and even called the client to ask him how many miles the engine oil had.  One of the indicators on the datalog was the intake cam adv. was reporting some odd numbers.

We were told that he did not know how many miles on the engine oil, so we did a oil flush and then added fresh oil and filter.  When it comes to lubrication of engines no better brand than Amsoil as we use that brand in many of our client’s vehicles.
Red line run – is immediately after we changed the oil and no changes were done to the calibration from the Green line.  The power of proper lubrication in the internals!

For all you dyno jet people here is the chart in comparison mode, before and after results.
