2016 Subaru STi – RevWorks RW750 build

2016 Subaru STi – RevWorks RW750 build

Local Subbie owner came to our shop after he had some engine issues with his vehicle. Car was previously worked by another shop and also tuned to what we see were stage2 mods.  Well we confirmed that it was down on 2 cylinders so in comes a call to our go to short block guys….Rev Works Inc.

After looking at the budget and the power goals of this vehicle the owner decided on a RW750_Stage3 short block.
We had to wait to finalize other projects and builds so with the patience of the owner we are finally in the middle of this project.  Here we leave you with some of the pictures of where we are at with this build.

More parts are arriving, as today the upgraded TMIC from Grimmspeed just showed up.

After the build of the engine and installation the car was treated to some #amsoil break in oil for the initial start. That oil was evacuated and then a second oil change with amsoil break in oil was inserted. 500 miles were put on that oil and then the car returned to have that break in oil evacuated. The Amsoil Signature series oil was installed and the tuning on pump 93oct began.
Shell 93 octane calibration at 20psi.
We are awaiting some speed density kit and an upgraded injectors to take
advantage of some ethanol E85R

2016 Subaru STi IAG – 93oct calibration

One of our good clients had a mishap on 2016 Subaru STi, yeah you all know the infamous ringland failure due to the crummy OEM oil pick up. So he did not waste time in going for something better that will give his AutoX duty vehicle the piece of mind.  In comes the short block from IAG, and a plethora of performance parts to take advantage of this wonderful robust short block.

Parts on this build include great performance names such as:

Fuel Injector Development 1300cc / Tomioka Racing GTX2971R / Radium Engineering FPR / Gates Racing belt
Mishimoto Rad. cap / KillerB Motorsports oil pick up & windage / IAG Short block, TGV Delete kit, Fuel rails & spacers / Torque Solution Fuel Line kit / Cometic Headgaskets / OEM gasket kit, oil pump & water pump / Grimmspeed TMIC coupler kit / ACT Heavy Duty Street Clutch.

I am sure I am forgetting something but nevertheless I will add it later.  So on to the pictures of the parts of this build and then on to the dyno calibration after a proper break in procedure.

We left the vehicle at the moment sporting only the 93octane calibration at 18psi, because later we are going speed density and really turning up the notch on the EBCS to get us where this car will be performing duties for AutoX.

From the previous calibration with the stock turbo we ended up at 300whp and now with the new set up we are sitting at 350whp / 360wtq with the same psi levels on the GTX2971R

2015 Subaru WRX – Protune stage 2

As always thankful for getting a chance to meet new people and this was no different as I received a client at the shop that day from the state of MS.  His vehicle was a 2015 Subaru WRX on stage 2 mods.  He was using a e-tune and was tired of going back and forth and not being able to get the tune spot on.

Car came in and we first proceeded to do a smoke test on the engine to make sure we did not have a boost leak before the session.  Boost leak test came back negative and then seeing that we proceeded to put the vehicle on the rollers.

Mods on this vehicle were:

Grimmspeed EBCS / Grimmspeed CAI / Perrin Chargepipe /  Tomioka Racing downpipe / PRL tgv and egr deletes
Cobb Accessport v3

Ambient conditions on the day were: 74F, 45% humidity and 30.13 baro.  Test runs were in 4th gear.

Purple line was as the car came in, hitting 20psi and tapering to 15psi.
Grey line was at the end of the tune, 19psi tapering to 16psi.  On this run i let off the throttle after 100mph due to seeing higher IATs. This was later corrected on the highway after some runs in the real world.
These were dyno jet presented numbers.
