2016 Subaru STi – RevWorks Short block install

A client came in one day to have his car calibrated.  As the dyno test was being done we noticed that the engine was not making the right power for the boost level that it was in.  After a compression test was made on this EJ engine, it revealed that a short block was needed.  Later it was discovered that the vehicle did not have the right calibration with the parts necessary for that level of power and psi that was being delivered to the engine.  This created a issue to the turbo and the oem turbo gave up the ghost. Along with the oem turbo getting damaged the engine lost compression in 2 cylinders.

Now that we needed a new short block in came the guys from RevWorks Inc.  Got together with Scott the president of that company and he guided me in the right direction to get this vehicle back on the road.  Took a few months to get the short block built and sent to us but it is finally in the shop and the build is coming together.  Here are the specs of the short block from RevWorks:

RW_EJ25_Stage2_ Block 100mm (RW600)

OEM STi Crank
Manley H Beam rods
ACL Race Rod Bearings
ACL Race Main bearings
Wiseco AP 100mm 9:1 Pistons
New Case Bolts (Mains)
KillerB oil pick up
ARP Headstuds / OEM full gasket kit

In a few days we will be having the new engine in the bay and ready for the break in procedure as per the RevWorks instructions.

3/12/19 – This is where we are at the moment on this build.  Hoping to get one item in to continue with putting all the parts back on the engine.

2005 Nissan Titan – Headers install & Calibration

Client arrived with wanting to get some JWT camshaft installed on his 2005 Nissan Titan, but we talked him into getting some bolt on first before going that route.
In comes a nice ceramic coated JBA headers install and after that the truck went to Custom Mufflers in Kenner for some custom exhaust work. The guys at that place did a bang up job on getting him some Borla and Magnaflow components in there to connect correctly to the 3″ VBands from the JBA headers.

When the vehicle returned from the exhaust shop we got it on the rollers and started the UpRev calibration to see what we could squeeze out of the pump gas.  Truck came in with a Airaid intake as well.

At the end this exhaust modification and calibration really woke this vehicle up, we were really impressed how the WTQ is delivered in this truck now after these changes.

Honda EK Civic K20a2 Turbo – Calibration Part2

Category : Uncategorized

We tuned this vehicle before, but this time the owner of the EK Kseries turbo decided to throw a TSX camshaft in the motor changed out the turbo and upgraded his fuel components.

Car came out making some good power, we still need to fix a few things with the boost control components, but all in all made some added power and the client once again left our shop satisfied. Thanks for trusting us with your tuning needs.

Ambient temps were in the 50F, 45% humidity and 30.03 baro
4th gear was used in the mapping of the K20a3 stock engine.  Boost on the Turbonetics turbo was set to 18psi with the Hondata 4port EBCS. Fuel was E80 from the pump and the delivery was on some Fuel Injector Development 2000cc squirters.

Here are the charts both Dyno Dynamics and dyno jet comparison.

Video of the vehicle getting some track time at State Capital Raceway on a Import Face Off event.
Mad respect to Ricardo at DNA Performance for trusting in our calibration work.

2016 Subaru STi IAG – 93oct calibration

One of our good clients had a mishap on 2016 Subaru STi, yeah you all know the infamous ringland failure due to the crummy OEM oil pick up. So he did not waste time in going for something better that will give his AutoX duty vehicle the piece of mind.  In comes the short block from IAG, and a plethora of performance parts to take advantage of this wonderful robust short block.

Parts on this build include great performance names such as:

Fuel Injector Development 1300cc / Tomioka Racing GTX2971R / Radium Engineering FPR / Gates Racing belt
Mishimoto Rad. cap / KillerB Motorsports oil pick up & windage / IAG Short block, TGV Delete kit, Fuel rails & spacers / Torque Solution Fuel Line kit / Cometic Headgaskets / OEM gasket kit, oil pump & water pump / Grimmspeed TMIC coupler kit / ACT Heavy Duty Street Clutch.

I am sure I am forgetting something but nevertheless I will add it later.  So on to the pictures of the parts of this build and then on to the dyno calibration after a proper break in procedure.

We left the vehicle at the moment sporting only the 93octane calibration at 18psi, because later we are going speed density and really turning up the notch on the EBCS to get us where this car will be performing duties for AutoX.

From the previous calibration with the stock turbo we ended up at 300whp and now with the new set up we are sitting at 350whp / 360wtq with the same psi levels on the GTX2971R

2004 Subaru WRX hatch – Accessportv2 calibration

On the afternoon of Saturday we got this client all the way from northern part of our state come in to get his car dialed in. Thanks to some of the members at solasec for the referral.

This 2004 Subaru WRX hatch came sporting a ej257 motor along with a few mods that warranted it to need a calibration.  Mods on the vehicle included: eBay 16g turbo / Perrin FMIC / TGV delete / EBCS / DW750cc / APv2
Turbo back exhaust / Grimmspeed ebcs.
Car came in sporting a very odd erratic boost curve, so we first did a boost leak test and our tech found a leak in the recirculation valve.  This was fixed and then the calibration was able to take place.

Calibration was done in 4th gear and ambient temps of the day: 68F, 42%, 30.30

2007 Nissan 350z – UpRev calibration

On a busy week as it was leading up to the local Import Face Off we took in this calibration job to get this 350Z sorted out.  This Nissan 350z 5AT came in to get straight since the client had added some breathing modifications.

Modifications on this vehicle included Z1 Motorsports intake, Invidia CBE and Test Pipes.

Baseline 239whp, car tuned in 4th gear.  Ambient conditions: 8F, 42%, 30.30baro

New parts were installed on the Z, client came in to see if we could give him a few WHP more.
We did not disappoint!

2006 Nissan 350z AT – UpRev calibration

Client came in with a 2006 Nissan 350z 5MT which he had installed some mods to it and it was running a little sluggish.  The breathing mods that were installed on the vehicle made the AFR on the engine leaner so calibration was needed to get the most out of the current items.

Thanks to the referral from Z1Motorsports this gentleman showed up to get his car calibrated.

Mods on the vehicle were:  Z1Motorsports intake / Muffler delete / Test Pipes

Ambient conditions on the session: 78F, 82% & 30.07 barometer, test was done in 4th gear sports mode.

Finally got a chance to see a client I was helping out over e-tune.  This client had installed a some items to his stock EJ257 and after that he needed our help to get him going.  At the time when I was sending him the calibrations our AWD dyno was down for maintenance and we had to postpone the visit. Fast forward a few month and he finally made some time in his busy schedule to come see us.  He could not have chosen a better day as ambient conditions in the day were very favorable to dyno calibration.
