2016 Subaru STi – RevWorks Short block install

2016 Subaru STi – RevWorks Short block install

A client came in one day to have his car calibrated.  As the dyno test was being done we noticed that the engine was not making the right power for the boost level that it was in.  After a compression test was made on this EJ engine, it revealed that a short block was needed.  Later it was discovered that the vehicle did not have the right calibration with the parts necessary for that level of power and psi that was being delivered to the engine.  This created a issue to the turbo and the oem turbo gave up the ghost. Along with the oem turbo getting damaged the engine lost compression in 2 cylinders.

Now that we needed a new short block in came the guys from RevWorks Inc.  Got together with Scott the president of that company and he guided me in the right direction to get this vehicle back on the road.  Took a few months to get the short block built and sent to us but it is finally in the shop and the build is coming together.  Here are the specs of the short block from RevWorks:

RW_EJ25_Stage2_ Block 100mm (RW600)

OEM STi Crank
Manley H Beam rods
ACL Race Rod Bearings
ACL Race Main bearings
Wiseco AP 100mm 9:1 Pistons
New Case Bolts (Mains)
KillerB oil pick up
ARP Headstuds / OEM full gasket kit

In a few days we will be having the new engine in the bay and ready for the break in procedure as per the RevWorks instructions.

3/12/19 – This is where we are at the moment on this build.  Hoping to get one item in to continue with putting all the parts back on the engine.

Slight Port matching and polish done in house for these TGVs.

Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX – Race gas calibration

On a hot & humid June day we proceeded to calibrate this vehicle.  The challenge of tuning a vehicle in the day in the south is always that after every run the car needs to be left alone to cool down. This eats up valuable tuning time, but that is just the name of the game.

During the summer we usually try to move all of our tuning to the night hours of the week.  In this case it was not possible and it needed to be done on a Saturday during the day.

After getting the car back from its initial mapping on the new turbo set up, the power was not there for the desired boost level. The client took the car back and inspected and sure nuff there were 2 items that needed attention.  Due to those 2 items it hindered the power output on that given day. Fast forward to today every issues was fixed and it was time to see what it will really do.

Mods were:

Wiseco pistons, Pauter rods, Magnus Intake manifold, FIC2150cc, Walbro 450lph, Precision PTE6466, Kelford 274 camshafts, ECMLink ecu and Fuse Hot Foot Unleaded 117 race gas.
