1992 Honda Civic EG Turbo – Calibration

1992 Honda Civic EG Turbo – Calibration

This project really was frustrating since when it seems that we made some gains, the parts that were initially installed were not up to par when it came down to see numbers on the rollers. This is why I always preach, “buy quality the first time and then you don’t have to spend twice.”

With that said, knock off fuel items were bought and installed the first go around as we tried to calibrate this vehicle on a fresh built engine, used Precision turbo 62mm turbo, CSF radiator, Speedfactory FMIC & hood exit exhaust, Tial 60mm WG, Hondata CPR & S300, Fuse E85R.

Well that first session was a complete disaster as the POS Bosch 2200cc and China made dual pumps, 5 gal. fuel tank and lines deteriorated from the ethanol fuel and contaminated the whole fuel system. Besides that the pumps just failed during a pull. At the time we decided to abandon the calibration and resume at a later time when we can buy some better components. We ripped the fuel pump and replaced it with a Aeromotive A1000 inline and got rid of those injectors and replaced with some Fuel Injector Development 2000cc units. Cleaned the whole fuel system and then got her back on the rollers.

This time on the rollers it did not disappoint as we managed to make some sauce on the Dyno Dynamics. Here are the results.

2016 Subaru STi IAG – 93oct calibration

One of our good clients had a mishap on 2016 Subaru STi, yeah you all know the infamous ringland failure due to the crummy OEM oil pick up. So he did not waste time in going for something better that will give his AutoX duty vehicle the piece of mind.  In comes the short block from IAG, and a plethora of performance parts to take advantage of this wonderful robust short block.

Parts on this build include great performance names such as:

Fuel Injector Development 1300cc / Tomioka Racing GTX2971R / Radium Engineering FPR / Gates Racing belt
Mishimoto Rad. cap / KillerB Motorsports oil pick up & windage / IAG Short block, TGV Delete kit, Fuel rails & spacers / Torque Solution Fuel Line kit / Cometic Headgaskets / OEM gasket kit, oil pump & water pump / Grimmspeed TMIC coupler kit / ACT Heavy Duty Street Clutch.

I am sure I am forgetting something but nevertheless I will add it later.  So on to the pictures of the parts of this build and then on to the dyno calibration after a proper break in procedure.

We left the vehicle at the moment sporting only the 93octane calibration at 18psi, because later we are going speed density and really turning up the notch on the EBCS to get us where this car will be performing duties for AutoX.

From the previous calibration with the stock turbo we ended up at 300whp and now with the new set up we are sitting at 350whp / 360wtq with the same psi levels on the GTX2971R
