2002 Subaru WRX – Calibration

Got this client a week ago to drop his Subaru WRX to get mapped out, but come to find out there were some issues that needed to be rectified before a single power pull could be administered.

A rear passanger side wheel bearing needed to be fixed, apart from that there were some vacuum lines that were not in the correct order.  After those things were sorted out then we proceded to connect and tune the vehicle via RomRaider.  Specs on the vehicle are as follows:

Fresh JDM ej205, 2004 sti 6 speed transmission, Kinugawa 20G turbo with all the necessary bolt ons.

2002 Lexus IS300 (2JZ-GTE)

An previous client came with a newly acquired car. His last one was lost in the recent floods so this was his new ride and it needed some remapping.  A built motor swap from a Supra was done to this vehicle as well as fitted it with many aftermarket parts to boot.

Mod list included: Haltech Sprint500 / Bosch 1000cc / Precision T4 6262 / GSP modified T4 Exh. manifold / Tial 44mm WG / HKS BOV / CX Racing FMIC / JE pistons /stock rods / Ferrea valves 1mm intake & .5mm exhaust / HKS 264 camshafts / Crower Spring & retainers / HKS headgasket  / Manual Transmission.

Shell Vpower 93 octane was used

Apart from remapping the Sprint500 we had to replace some tired Tbolt clamps in the chargepipes and swap out a faulty MBC for a Hallman MBC. Boost then was linear from 19psi to 18psi.

Special thanks to this client for trusting us with his vehicle.  See ya soon

Panama tuning 1/14/15 – Race Qualifiying

Waking up early on Saturday morning we gathered the troops loaded up the 2 Nissan Titan trucks and headed to Las Mendozas in Chorrera where the track is located. Its a 4hr journey from Las Tablas to the race track.  Needed to fuel up the trucks and our stomachs so we stopped in this very modern gas station.  This style of new gas stations remind me of the petrol station that can be found Portugal.

Panama Tuning 1/13/17 – Infiniti G37S

Got started itn the morning with this 2008 Infiniti G37S M/T.  Client drove from the capital to Las Tablas (4hrs) to get UpRev tuned at Taller NB on our Dyno Dynamics.

Mods on the vehicle:

Berk TP
Exhaust Stillen
Intake Gen3 Stillen
ARK exhaust

Managed to squeeze a little more power out of the vehicle and also made sure the limiters were in place.  The motor let go a while back due to a over rev condition and he wanted to take no chances on this newer motor.

Its a G37S and I said the name of the wrong model. DUuHh.  A.R.C. settings enabled on this vehicle, ready for some fun on the track.

Thanks once again to my associates from Taller NB in Las Tablas, Panama.

Panama tuning 1/12/17 – Acura RSX-T

Started the day with a baseline runs for a client that is interested in making his 2015 Ford Mustang ecoboost more responsive.  At the moment the vehicle only has a Airaid intake. The future plans now is to get the exhaust mods and a #cobbaccessport for the vehicle.  Final numbers were 195whp / 230wtq in a 3rd gear pull.

Next up on the day was a Acura RSX typeS turbo on #Haltech Platinum Pro it was tuned previously by the guys at TallerNB, but a set of #fuelinjectiondevelopment 1300cc were added and retuning was needed. We wanted to go higher than the 14psi it was tuned earlier but we wanted to do some valve adjustment and head work first and the time did not allow so we retuned it for the same PSI.  Mods in this vehicle are #Holsett HX35, built bottom end, Tial WG/BOV, Skunk2 intake and TB with a BWR exhaust manifold, Precision FMIC and Walbro 255lph.

Once we installed the FID13000 we noticed that the car did not want to start and when it did it was missing pretty badly. Well we decided to have a look at the spark plugs and sure enough that was the culprit. In two cylinders those Denso IK24 showed signs of something sinister had happened before it was brought back to us. Did a compression test on the motor but fortunate enough there was no signs of damage in those cylinders.  Threw away those plugs and installed a fresh set of NGK BKR8EIX and she came back to life.

Last up on the evening some local guys from Chitre brought in their tuner (Chapa) and rented the dyno to fine tune a EK B18c1 built bottom end, stock sleeves on Hondata s300 and a large t4 6667 precision turbo.  First they fought off some fueling issues that were present and later had to contest against some ignition issues that plagued them as well.  They got close to their expected goals.

Panama tuning 1/11/17

On Wednesday it was a little slower with having to take care of the Z33 from Tuesday since the 2step launch from UPREV was having some issues. Found out that the vehicle has a issue with reporting the vehicle speed. So that is going to have to be fixed before the A.R.C. system can be flashed.

Later that day I was helping Belisario “Tayto” with a 200sx sr20det fine tune a Haltech system on that vehicle.  Good job Tayto on the good tune of this car.

Also an old client came back to try to fix a VTEC issue on his ’02 RSX type S on Haltech Platinum Pro. Strange issue this car has as sometimes the engine will die when the coolant temps get past a predetermined temperature that tells the ECU that VTEC solenoid is ready to be activated. Played around with the hz setting on the #haltechplatinumpro and managed to find a frequency that the VTEC system liked.

Panama tuning trip 1/10/17 – ’05 Nissan Titan

Later that evening after finalizing the Z33 we moved on to the last car on the day.

Nissan Titan with CBE, Airaid intake and throttle spacer. Made a baseline pull which yielded us a mere 212whp / 260wtq.  After the UpRev flash and tune we managed to increase the over all performance of the vehicle to a 224whp / 290wtq.  Very good gains of torque in the lower rpm band of the engine were found.  Once again many thanks to my associates at Taller NB.

Panama tuning trip 1/10/17 – ’07 Nissan 350z

Category : Uncategorized

On Tuesday the day started with wanting to install some FID injectors to a RSX a TPS and start tuning this Acura, but had some mishaps on some components that were not there yet and we had to move to the next car on the day.

This was a 2007 Nissan 350z, mods are CBE / TP and Intakes.  We had tried to tune previously but the ECU was locked out so the client had to get another ecu and marry it to the engine. Once that was done I was able to install the UpRev license and start tuning this HR engine.  Car came in very poor fueling both in vacuum and wot regions. After the fueling was dialed in the car started to wake up performance wise.  After the NA calibration was finalized we moved on to the ZEX Nitrous shot that was going to be added. A colder NGK (1406) plug was installed and tuning started on the NOS. Had some issues with NOS delivery so the guy that installed the kit was called to fix the issues. Everything was sorted out and managed to squeeze and additional 75+WHP. Car needs to have its clutch replaced since it was showing signs of weakness during some of the NOS pulls.
