2017 Subaru STi – Install & Calibration

2017 Subaru STi – Install & Calibration

This is a return client whom bought some nice Gram Lights wheels from us.  Well he was at it again and this time it was some preventive items that he wanted to add to the mix. After those items were installed he wanted us to do a calibration on his vehicle.
Contacted our reps and soon the IAG Performance, Cobb Tuning and Killer B Motorsports items arrived.
OEM oil items vs the Killer B Motorsports goodies.

The IAG Air Oil Separator was not given a close up picture, but it was installed. You can see it on the left side of the top mount intercooler.

Above is the dyno jet comparison chart showing the whp vs PSI.  Next up we will be upgrading the TMIC, EBCS and regular maintenance.

2011 Subaru STi – APv3 Calibration

Finally got a chance to see a client I was helping out over e-tune.  This client had installed a some items to his stock EJ257 and after that he needed our help to get him going.  At the time when I was sending him the calibrations our AWD dyno was down for maintenance and we had to postpone the visit. Fast forward a few month and he finally made some time in his busy schedule to come see us.  He could not have chosen a better day as ambient conditions in the day were very favorable to dyno calibration.

Mods on the vehicle were:

Stock turbo / stock TMIC / Cobb Tuning 1050x injectors / AEM 340lph fuel pump / TGV Delete / Cobb SF intake
Cobb Turbo Inlet / Exhaust Cobb Tuning TBE / Cobb Tuning APv3

Runs were made in 4th gear S# / Ambient conditions at the shop on this date 80F, 53% humidity and 30.07 baro

2015 Subaru WRX – Protune stage 2

As always thankful for getting a chance to meet new people and this was no different as I received a client at the shop that day from the state of MS.  His vehicle was a 2015 Subaru WRX on stage 2 mods.  He was using a e-tune and was tired of going back and forth and not being able to get the tune spot on.

Car came in and we first proceeded to do a smoke test on the engine to make sure we did not have a boost leak before the session.  Boost leak test came back negative and then seeing that we proceeded to put the vehicle on the rollers.

Mods on this vehicle were:

Grimmspeed EBCS / Grimmspeed CAI / Perrin Chargepipe /  Tomioka Racing downpipe / PRL tgv and egr deletes
Cobb Accessport v3

Ambient conditions on the day were: 74F, 45% humidity and 30.13 baro.  Test runs were in 4th gear.

Purple line was as the car came in, hitting 20psi and tapering to 15psi.
Grey line was at the end of the tune, 19psi tapering to 16psi.  On this run i let off the throttle after 100mph due to seeing higher IATs. This was later corrected on the highway after some runs in the real world.
These were dyno jet presented numbers.

2014 Subaru WRX – ProTune

Received this Subaru WRX sedan for a fuel pump and injectors install.  Well the Walbro 300lph install was pretty much straight forward, but when we installed the supplied set of Dynamic Injection 1000cc the engine did not like them and I was struggling to get a clean idle. Besides the struggle with tuning the idle there were some DTCs that came up in reference to the injectors.

Thanks to my friend Zach that suggested we take out the injectors and have them tested and flowed, we quickly found out that this set of injectors were the culprit. Spoke to the client told him about the situation and we decided to get a set of fresh FID1000cc in the mix. We installed the FID1000 moved 2 parameters in the accessport and the vehicle was purring like a stock car once again.

Later installed the last piece of the puzzle, a Grimmspeed EBCS and she was ready to hit the rollers.

WRX ended up making 255whp and 292wtq at 18psi tapering to 17psi. Tested in 4th gear

Stock motor, VF52, FID1000, Walbro 300lph, GS ebcs, 4 core TMIC, TBE, OS canister, accessport v3 stage 2

This WRX came back to us since the owner found some issues with his turbo inlet pipe and was changed out with a new unit.  So the WRX was brought back to us to check the calibration and make sure all the fuel trims and other sectors in the calibration were operating optimal.  Here is the result from this retune.

Green line was the previous tune and the red line is the tune after the turbo inlet hose install.  In conclusion made some further positive results on the tune.
Also managed to spool up quicker and make some positive improvements to the WTQ in the earlier section of the RPM range.
