2014 Nissan 370z (Nismo) – UpRev / ARC Flame

Was a late night calibrating and we waited for a client to arrive from the northern part of the state. With a good 4+hr drive we started the calibration process on this 2014 Nissan 370z (Nismo) 6MT at around 10:30pm.  Even this late in the evening the heat of LA does not forgive and we were faced with 91F, 50% and 30.03 to start the calibration.

Mods on the vehicle were Stillen GEN3 intakes, Headers, CBE and DP.

2016 Nissan 370Z – UpRev calibration

Got a chance to calibrate another Nissan, this time it was a 2016 370z 7AT edition.  Client wanted to maxime the WHP on the mods that he had installed in this vehicle.

The mods included a Stillen Gen 3 intakes, test pipes and muffler delete.

Ambient conditions at night were 84F, 52% humidity and 30.02 baro
Test/calibration performed in sports mode in 4th gear.

After the engine was optimized the finel numbers of the night were these:

2011 Infiniti G37 – UpRev & ARC

The summer down here in NOLA tends to be rather brutal and with that said, calibration of vehicles have to moved to nights.  In comes a 2011 Infiniti G37 automatic transmission that has some mods and is needing a calibration of the engine right away.

Mods on this vehicle were:
AdminTuning Intakes / Z1 ported manifold / Ypipe / Test pipes / Tires 235.40.19
Ambient conditions – 86F, 72% and 30.20 baro

Vehicle came in and the guys were going right in to install the Intakes, after the intakes were installed the vehicle was loaded to the rollers were mapping needed to be done right away since these intakes and stock calbiration do not play nice together.

2005 Subaru Outback XT – APv3

Client from MS contacted us to help him calibrate his daily. This daily was a automatic transmission Outback with stage 2 mods in it, the turbo was swapped to a VF46.  He had some issues with the oem ebcs so we only were able to do 12psi tapering to 11psi of pressure.  In any case we managed to improve drive-ability and over all power delivery.

Mods: CNT TMIC, Cobb APv3, Snow Performance meth kit, Cobb SF Intake and turbo back exhaust.

Ambient conditions on the night of the tune were: 85F, 70% humidity and 30.05 Baro

Before and after the calibration chart.

2011 Infiniti G37S – UpRev ARC

We first tuned this vehicle back in February of 2017. Client came back since he had a ECU issue and needed to swap the ECU to another known working one. Once we did this we took the opportunity to add the ARC features to this 7AT vehicle. Other mods on this vehicle included Stillen Gen3 intakes, Test Pipes and CBE.

Well we got he car at 9pm on a warm Monday night, ambient temps were in the 86F, 49% humidity and 30.08 Baro.

After the engine was calibrated and we ended up making 298.8 WHP and if you like the dyno jet numbers that would be 334whp, we decided to add a Flame Map function to the ROM.
Client did not know we were doing this and when he saw the results he was very pleased and could not control his smile and content with how the car turned out.

Special thanks goes out to Jon at Z1 Motorsports for the assistance on this project.

2013 Subaru WRX – IAG + APV3 calibration

On a hot summer day in the beginning of June we had the pleasure of tuning this Subaru WRX.  This WRX came from another region of the nation and needed to be calibrated for our swamp weather here in the deep south.
Ambient conditions on the day got up to 103F, at the time we ended up finishing the tune we were blessed with ambient temps dropping to 93F 56% and 30.03

The mods that were present on this vehicle we some very good ones:
IAG stage2.5 bottom end, ported head, Kelford 268cams, Garrett GT35R, Front Mount Intercooler, TGV deletes, ID1000cc, DW350lph fuel pump, Cobb APV3 and Turbo back exhaust.
Shell 93oct was used and peak PSI was reached to 21.5psi

Got to say that we got some decent power output especially since it was a miserable hot day at the shop.  Took it out of the shop in the evening, tested the vehicle on the highway and made sure that the KO and DAM were acting accordingly as it was doing in the dyno.
Special thanks to Brock for trusting us with this nice project.

2013 Subaru BRZ – Turbo install & Calibration

As always first thanks be to God for giving us the opportunity to do this and help the local car enthusiast achieve their goals.  This time around thanks to a previous client Vu with the white CivicSi for recommending us his friend.
We got this BRZ and the client brought all the necessary items to make this install happen in a short turn around time frame. Tech got the car in a few days we had the car up on the lift and the JDLv2 turbo kit was making its way into the engine bay.

After we got to this stage we had to wait a few days for the Mishimoto slim fans to arrive.  Once the fans arrived it took a few hrs to install them and then the calibration process began with the EcuTek software suite.  The process of calibration was done on a nice vacant hwy and the engine was dialed in to gate pressure on the kit.  All I can say is was so stoked to see the smile on the face of the client as he drove around in his newly transformed vehicle.

Honda EK Civic K20a3 Turbo – Calibration

We tuned this vehicle before, but this time the owner of the EK Kseries turbo decied to throw a TSX camshaft in the motor so that required some calibration on the maps.

Car came out making some good power, we still need to fix a few things with the boost control components, but all in all made some added power and the client once again left our shop satisfied. Thanks for trusting us with your tuning needs.

Ambient temps were in the 52F, 45% humidity and 30.03 baro
4th gear was used in the mapping of the K20a3 stock engine.  Boost on the Precision 5858 turbo was set to 16psi with the Hondata 4port EBCS.

The chart below show the Dyno Dynamics number for 93 octane (green line) and 93octane / Fuse E85R (red line) at the same 16psi level.

The chart above show the Dyno Dynamics simulating DJ number for 93 octane (green line) and 93octane / Fuse E85R (red line) at the same 16psi level.

2008 Subaru STI – ProTune Stage2

Got a chance to post these pics from a tune we did a while back and the same client came back to retune once more.  This time the client added a Grimmspeed 3-port ebcs and Crawford AOS so with that added it needed a calibration for those added items.

Before this he had added these items to take him to a stage2 Protune:
Injen intake, TGV Delete, Turbo Back Exhaust, Built bottom end with Shell 93octane.  These were the before and after the initial calibration session with stage 2 items.

Ambient conditions on the calibration day, 55F, 45% Humidity and 30.13 baro
4th gear runs, boost was targeted to 19.5psi and tapers to 15psi

This chart above is the run after the 3-port EBCS was added and AOS from Crawford.  So we managed to pick up a bit of WTQ & WHP all thru the rev range, but realized that we will be needing a better TMIC and a bigger turbo to take full advantage of this built bottom end.  So for the meantime good gains and another happy client leaves the rollers.

1/20/18 Install day and recalibration.

This past Saturday we got the chance to see this same 2008 STI to install the Grimmspeed Thermal Dispersant TMIC we got for him.  Install was pretty straight forward and after it was installed and checked for no leaks it was time to hit the dyno once again.  As you can remember the previous time it was on the dyno the ambient temps were rather cold:
Ambient conditions on the calibration day, 55F, 45% Humidity and 30.13 baro.

On the day of the tune the ambient conditions were 68F, 85% humidity and 30.10 baro.  Boost was also picked up to 20psi tapering to 16psi, I have to say that this intercooler did its job, we got back to the same power levels as we witnessed on that colder day.  Below are the Dyno Dynamics and then the DJ comparison chart so you can see what we ended up with.
Pink lines are the previous run and Green line is with the Grimmspeed TMIC 259 awhp/309awtq.

Above is the dyno jet comparison chart for the Before and after Grimmspeed TMIC install.

Nissan Sentra B16 – UpRev calibration

My associates in Panama contacted me and asked me if I could remote tune this Nissan Sentra B16 SpecV.  Manual transmission on this vehicle and some simple bolt ons.

I said sure lets put that UpRev on it and see what we can make on it.  The guys at Taller NB in Las Tablas did a great job of testing the vehicle and relaying the information to me in order to check out the datalog and dyno chart results from every movement that was made to the UpRev ROM.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the results and so was the owner of the vehicle in the Azuero region of Panama.

Here are the before and after runs.  We were able to extract power throughout the power band from the calibration.

A  little more tweaking and this was the way we left the vehicle at.  Very proud of what we were able to accomplish with this remote calibration session.
